Tusker Auditions Come To Kampala

This weekend, you should stop singing in the shower, thinking yourself a star. Rather, you should get an honest friend or family to critique and train you because Tusker Project Fame Season 6 auditions have finally come to town.

So, if you are 18 and over, with vocals that have the potential to rock audiences and humble judges into admiration, then head to Sheraton’s Lions bar next morning (tomorrow). If you are lucky and win, you will represent Uganda at the Tusker Project Fame Academy – East Africa’s ultimate reality music show – in October, where Shs 150m will be the hefty cash prize and a recording contract.

As part of the twist this season, a group of up to three performers can audition unlike previously. Cleopatra Kyoheirwe, (actress/singer/radio presenter), Julianna Kanyomozi (singer) and Flavia Tumusiime (Capital FM presenter and TV personality) make the team of judges that will build or break dreams. A team from Endemol, a TV production house, which also produces TPF, will also be present.

So far, auditions have taken place in Arua and Mbarara districts. Fifty contestants turned up in Arua and three were selected, while in Mbarara, seven made the cut.  Come Saturday, upcountry contestants will be tussling it out with hundreds expected at the Kampala auditions.

Speaking during the auditions in Mbarara last weekend, Tusker Lager Brand Manager Harry Mwanje said: “We have registered an increment in the number of people auditioning today and got great talent. We are confident that the individuals that will represent Uganda in Tusker Project Fame Season 6 will be the best and we are hopeful that we will produce the ultimate winner this season.”

Elsewhere in the region (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan), auditions are also ongoing. Audition forms will be available at the venue (Sheraton) and can also be found in major supermarkets like Nakumatt.

The sixth season of East Africa’s biggest and most inspirational musical show, under the tag line “Take the stage”, is looking for an all-round entertainer.
