Tusker Project Fame 6 finally went live on our screens last Sunday, 13th October 2013 and one of the most trending things about it was the new Host Joey Muthengi.
Joey has been active on the Kenyan entertainment scene for a very long time. A rapper, talented MC, Channel O VJ and radio personality, Joey started out by studying journalism in college.
After her degree, Joey interned at Voice of America in pre-production. From this awesome platform, Joey came home and started doing voice overs and was offered work at Capital FM. She never look back from there. Working as an event MC and a VJ with Channel O in South Africa, Joey has already taken East Africa by storm… Next up, world domination.
Q: Who influences you / inspires you in your career?
A:Definitely my family. We are very close and they give me so much encouragement. I hope I can always live up to their example.
Q: What is your relationship status?
A: (Laughs) Hmm… It’s complicated…
Q: Craziest thing that has ever happened to you in the business?
A: Those things happen all the time. It comes with the territory. I have had moments when I didn’t do a fact check or my grammar was wrong and I had people call me out on social media… but I believe that you can come back from that. I am a little scared I might fall on the stage… but I think that is what Mitch is here to help with (laughing)
Q: What are you hoping to see among the contestants?
A: I love music. I hope to see talent and lots of it. Confident talent. And most important, I hope I get seriously entertained.
Q: Favorite color?
A: Anything bright… pink… orange…
Q: Favorite food?
A: Ethiopian food… I eat that way too much. I love the stuff.
Q: Any songs you are looking forward to hearing sung during the competition?
A: Oh my… If someone can pull off Whitney Houston, that would take me to a good place.
Q: What is your ideal Saturday night? Who is there and where is it?
A: At home… House party with friends. We cook and drink wine and then if they want, they can go out. I will stay at home.
Q: Stranded on a desert island, what 4 things would you have to have?
A: Lipbalm, My phone, Ethiopian food and Ethiopian food…
Q: If you had a party, which 5 celebrities would you invite?
A: Oh my… Frasha (P-Unit) and Collo for sure. Both are really funny and really cool. Internationally, P – Diddy, KhloeKardashian and Jay Z…
Q: What words of wisdom do you have for the contestants as the go into the Academy?
A: Confidence is the biggest thing ever. Even if you don’t have it… FAKE IT!
